*Vickery Meadow Summer Reading Academy (VMSRA)

*McShan Reading Homeroom (MRH)

Our mission is to provide literacy (phonics, phonological awareness, vocabulary, oral reading fluency and comprehension) instruction to the students attending Lee A. McShan Elementary School. Our volunteer tutors provide reading and language instruction designed to meet the specific challenges and abilities of the students, adhering to TEKS standards. In addition to literacy skills, our tutors support the challenges of personal development, work ethics, and self confidence as the children adjust to life in America. Nearly all of our students are refugees learning English as a second language. McShan ES is located in the Vickery Meadow area, one of the most impoverished areas of the City and County of Dallas.

Virtual tutors are located in 18 (and counting) U.S. states, Brazil, Tanzania, Dubai, Lebanon, Canada, Ivory Coast, and The Gambia. Join us!
